Our Managing Director, Ray Andrews, is a highly experienced consultant with over 35 years’ experience consulting in the areas of stakeholder management, communication, market and social research, strategic business analysis and planning and cultural change.
Ray has worked with many hundreds of clients across all three levels of government (federal, state/territory and local), private and publicly-listed companies and the not-for-profit sector. Prior to establishing Andrews Group in 1986, Ray was the first national marketing director of the now 127,000-member CPA Australia, and led the Australian Army’s marketing communication unit.
Ray is a Fellow of the Public Relations Institute of Australia (PRIA) and a Member of the Australian Market and Social Research Society (AMSRS).
Lucy is an experienced consultant who has worked on a wide range of projects with clients from private and publicly-listed companies, industry associations, not-for-profits and government at federal, state and territory levels.
Lucy’s experience spans every area of research and her strengths lie in her ability to interact with all types of clients and research respondents, digest and analyse data and develop strategic and creative responses based on the findings of research. She is heavily involved in the research phases of Andrews Group’s projects, including conducting interviews and focus groups, developing and administering online surveys, conducting desk-based research exercises and analysis and reporting activities.
Lucy has overseen numerous Andrews Group projects for clients in the education, earth sciences, criminal intelligence and law enforcement, energy, resources, IT, finance and transport industries, with many of these projects requiring understanding and management of highly sensitive subjects and relationships.
Lucy holds a Bachelor of Commerce (Marketing and Management) from the University of Melbourne.
Simon is a highly experienced consultant with expertise in research, strategic business analysis, cultural change, stakeholder management and marketing communication. Simon joined Andrews Group in 2000, left in 2013 for a four-year stint at Charles Sturt University in a research role and has recently returned to Andrews Group as a Senior Consultant.
During his time at Andrews Group, Simon has worked with hundreds of clients and managed many significant projects across all tiers of government and the private sector and across almost every industry. Simon’s wide-ranging experience places him in excellent stead to make informed and relevant strategic recommendations for our clients.
In addition to strategic oversight, Simon has skills in qualitative interviewing (focus groups and one-on-one interviews) of internal and external stakeholders, especially when particularly sensitive or complex issues are being explored. Simon is also involved in the interpretation of qualitative data and reporting.
Graduating in 1998, Simon holds Bachelor of Science (Psychology) and Bachelor of Arts degrees from the University of Melbourne. Simon also completed post-graduate studies in statistics and research methods.
Greg is an experienced senior administrator and consultant, with broad private and public sector experience at senior executive levels. Greg has a track record of success in complex and demanding stakeholder environments, and adding value to organisations through creating approaches to strategic and stakeholder management issues.
Greg joins Andrews Group from the Victorian public service, where he has been leading various agencies for the past six years. Greg has also served on several boards, including the 2006 Melbourne Commonwealth Games Company board, holds a Bachelor of Business and is a Fellow of the Institute of Public Administration. He has sound understanding of the workings of all tiers of Australian Government, and the ability to navigate and achieve success within them. Greg also has many years’ business consulting and private sector experience.
Greg’s strengths lie in his ability to navigate and bring clarity to complex stakeholder relationships, and helping clients understand how to establish and maintain effective stakeholder engagement practices, and how working with stakeholders can improve organisational outcomes.
Robert is a highly experienced communications practitioner with a background covering more than 30 years in the industry.
Robert brings to the Andrews Group team comprehensive experience in strategy, media relations, organisational change, issues management, media training and marketing. He specialises in the development of issues management and crisis plans. Robert has worked extensively with federal and state governments, international and national corporations, high profile not-for-profits and community groups.
Robert was formerly a senior political journalist with the Sun Pictorial and Brisbane Courier Mail, covering federal parliament as a member of the national press gallery and state parliaments in Queensland, New South Wales and Victoria.
Robert has lectured widely across Australia, including at all of Melbourne’s major universities and TAFE colleges. He is on the Master Course Committee for Communication at Swinburne University, where he is an Industry Fellow of Communication. He has presented at conferences in Asia, the United States and England on public relations communication strategies and issues and crisis management. Robert is a Life Fellow of the Public Relations Institute of Australia (PRIA) and a former National President of the Institute.
Bruce has extensive experience as a business executive, primarily in the automotive and transport industry in Australia and overseas. Bruce’s core competency is as a sales and marketing leader, underpinned by a zealous customer-centric attitude. The key to his success is his ability to apply his considerable emotional intelligence to effectively engage and understand the needs of all stakeholders. Bruce is a business entrepreneur and former long-term Ford Motor Company employee, culminating in the varied roles of Vice President, Marketing, Sales, Customer Service and Regional Manager, New York.
As a consultant, Bruce has shared his extensive practical wisdom across a range of market sectors, including transport and logistics, automotive wholesale and retail, petroleum, manufacturing, food, health, occupational health and safety and real estate.
In addition to his experience in consulting and at Ford, Bruce has held the position of Chief Executive Officer of the Driver Education Centre of Australia and Chief Executive Officer of the Australian Automotive Dealer Association.
Tom has 30 years’ international management consulting, technology and profit and loss business leadership experience, working successfully both in and with blue chip organisations across the globe. An expert in “information security”, Tom specialises in helping businesses understand, prioritise and secure their sensitive information and recognise cyber threats.
Tom brings a breadth of international experience to bear from working in the United States, Australia and Asia helping leading organisations solve critical business issues across strategy, operations and technology. Previously the Director of Solutions Consulting at Telstra, he was also a Vice President with AT Kearney, and has held executive roles with companies such as American Management Systems, Solution 6 and Deloitte Consulting.
Tom holds a Master of Business Administration with academic distinction from the McCombs School of Business at the University of Texas and a Bachelor of Arts in Business from The Colorado College, USA.
Dave is a highly talented consultant and statistician, specialising in building clients’ marketing capabilities.
Dave has the rare skill set of being both an academic, with a PhD in Mathematical Statistics, as well as having 20 years’ experience as a corporate researcher in both client-side and consulting organisations. Dave’s prior roles have included working as a marketing academic at Monash University for ten years, where he introduced the teaching of marketing metrics at both undergraduate and graduate levels. Dave continues to teach part time at Monash University and Deakin University.
Dave was integral to the establishment of Andrews Group’s and Marketing Decision Analysis’ Growth Potential Score Pty Ltd.
Dave is a member of the American Marketing Association.
Jon’s professional experience is widely varied, spanning a number of industries in the private and public sectors. This particularly includes finance, education and property. He has significant expertise in education, building and planning and consults extensively in these industries for government agencies, industry associations and private sector entities.
Jon has held several very senior management and board positions across the private, community and public sectors, including in all three levels of government. Jon is a former Deputy Vice-Chancellor of Victoria University and, in the public sector, held roles at Deputy Secretary, National Director or CEO level for 20 years, almost continuously, from the mid-1980s. This includes as National Director of the then-National Crime Authority, Deputy Secretary of Planning and Local Government for the Victorian Department of Infrastructure and Chief Executive Officer at City of Port Phillip.
Jon holds Bachelor of Commerce and Master of Business Administration degrees from the University of Melbourne and has participated in management programs at both Harvard University and Massachusetts Institute of Technology in recent years. He has presented at many conferences and like events.
